December 3rd: Flipping Out

That is one fine looking fish.
He is our dearly departed Flip.
Last night he succumb to a gluttonous death that was inflicted upon him by an unknowing caregiver, though I don't want to point fingers.
To say there was grief in our home this morning when our girls woke to this news would be an understatement.  There was sadness, it was deep and it was real, and I hurt for their little hearts.
Maggie Bell wept but only after she saw the huge tears form in Libby's eyes.  Libby tried to talk about it, but the words were choked out by the tears.  By 10:30 this morning she told me that her eyes were sore and I knew that, that amount of crying called for a hot chocolate.

A little back story for you.  Last night while the girls and I were at church Kev said that he turned his back on someone for just a few minutes.  Cooper came to find him and said "I feed Flip."  "Oh no, I dump it!"  Kev went to the dinning room to find the fish food pellets all over the floor and in the tank.  Coop being the good son that he is ran to get the dust pan and broom, but as two year olds do so well, he made more mess trying to clean up.  So a distracted Kevin left food dumped in the bowl to clean the food on the floor.
And the rest, well, Flip died happy, eating fish pellets until he could eat no more.

In the words of my wise 7 year old, Flip is in heaven with Jesus, we'll see him when we go there.

To soften the blow, we got an early Christmas gift tonight.  Flippy or Flip #2 or Flippers joined the family.  She is half the size of the original Flip and a girl.  Maggie asked a million times if she would die by morning.  Libby sneaked down after bedtime to tell her goodnight one more time.

They claim that on December 3rd we will always remember Flip the First and how much he meant to our family.

Rest in peace little fish, you 'll be missed.

Happy Christmas

OOOOh, the truth comes out. I am sorry for Flip #1, but how many fish can say they have a memorial day?
