When I walk through stores like Michael's or Hobby Lobby I get inspired and buy stuff to make things that are crafty b/c I think it will enhance our life. Somehow in those brief moments that I'm dropping spool after spool of red polka grosgrain ribbon into my cart I truly think I have time to make stuff. I forget that I'm a wife, a mother, a zoo keeper, and habitual "yes" sayer. So I buy this stuff, and a lot of times it sits and collects dust for months and months until I get to it..However, this December I have sufficiantly ignored my responsibitlies just long enough to make some really fun stuff...
Item #1 The fireplace decor
I got inspired by Starbucks Christmas decorations circa 2007 I think. I had fond recollections of their balls of yarn and found it quite festive. I tucked the idea away deep in the memoirs of mind for a time that I deemed appropriate for making my own yarn ball wreath. All I did was, purchased a couple of flat wreaths, a spool of wide ribbon, 3 balls of yarn, and some styrofoam balls, and voila. I also threw a couple of mason jars up there and Kev cut some little logs up for me to add another layer of texture. The twinkle lights were his idea and I think they give it just the right touch.
Item #2 Cupcake wrapper trees
I used these to decorate at my MOPS meeting the other day, but now they are linning the middle of my dinning room table and I like them there. This project was cheap, cheap, cheap. The only thing I had to buy was Christmas colored cupcake liners. I made a cone shape out of cardstock and tape, cup the bottom out of my cupcake liner and started layering...I love how fun they turned out. I got the idea from a crafting blog.
Item #3 Rolo Pretzel Candy. Amen.
I realize these are not a craft, but I can't find the picture of the other craft I made so these little morsels from heaven are taking their place. I had never had these before and it is a good thing b/c one can not be in my presence with out me eating it....Therefor I gave all the ones we made away.
All you do is take a pretzel, put a rolo on top, sit it in the oven on 350 for 5 min, then plop a pecan on top.
Go to your kitchen and make these right now, and then call me and tell me how good they are.
Here's to making stuff....may we all find more time to do so.

I can see it now...the newest hit HGTV show...Crafty Super Mom of 2 on how to make THE BEST Christmas decorations...seriously, Carly, they are beautiful!!! Regarding the post below this, aren't you glad you can re-do days and that morning always comes?! Love ya.
Oh, and did you just cut out the bottoms of the cupcake liners depending on the layer width of the cone you were stacking on?
Lisa, Some of the bigger trees required me to use two cupcake liners cut into sections so that it would lay properly. I saved the center of the liner to tape on the top of my tree. If I had a lot of time (ha) I would have used craft glue, but scotch tape was just quick, and on most of them you can't even see that it is there.
