My BFF

Please pray for one of my favorite's, Laura. She had to go to Urgent Care this morning with major stomach pains and they sent her to the hospital for a cat scan. She and Slim are awaiting the results right now!

* Update: Cat Scan revealed nothing to be too alarmed over, just an infection in her stomach, no need to operate! Whew, glad that's over. Still pray for her though, she said she is still having some pain.

To Dedicate:

To devote wholly or earnestly.

Dear Libby,

We dedicated you to our Jesus this weekend. We pray that you will follow hard after Him.
Be strong my lady, this world will pull and tug on you, but He will carry you...Follow Him and He will lead you on...

Love, Mommy

I copy a lot of what I write on this blog in her baby book, so the above is for her, but here are the words of a song that I sing to her a lot...I pray it for her and hope that you will be blessed by them...

Give me one pure and holy passion
Give me on magnificent obsession
Give me one glorious ambition for my life
To know and follow hard after You

To know and follow hard after you
To grow as your disciple in your truth
This world is empty, pale, and poor
Compared to knowing you, my Lord
Lead me on and I will run after you
Lead me on and I will run after you

Dedication Day memories....

Me and my favorites., They are precious to me.
*By the way, the sun came out all day Sunday.

Baby in Dirt

Our favorite Englishman had 4 days off in a row to spend with his Mum and us. We spent our days piddling as he would say and on one day we dressed the Little in a dress that was 3 months too small (but she never got to wear it for it is a spring dress and she is an autumn baby, so I thought, why not?), took her to a pretty garden,, and sat her in the dirt for some pictures!

Fancy gate at pretty gardens great for photo- op
Libby and her favorite English Grandma. We soak up 10 whole days of Grandma time. Libby is sad b/c now she'll have to practice independence for a while again and I am sad b/c I will have to get back to house wife-ing on my own again! Thanks Grandma! We miss you.
This picture is from our garden, not the fancy one with the iron gate, but we do have a rickety swing!

I Have A Lot To Say

...but no time to post, so keep checking back in for updates. Like my new background? I made it, b/c I couldn't afford to have someone make it for me, it's a work in progress.

Rain

My mind was overwhelmed this evening.
I was with out the one who has been stitched to my hip for the last 6 months almost all day and I missed her. I didn't even noticed my fingers were clenched tightly around her name that hangs on my neck...I was clinging as we were rode down a back rode in the pouring rain, just two, not three..
So I opened up to tell him what I was thinking, how I just can't understand when I read this story, then this one, and this one., and so many more. I hear one story after another about heart break and it makes me feel so sad. I don't even want to keep reading, but for some reason I do and my heart hurts for them. I questioned, why is their so much hurt, and why do some escape it and some do not?
I felt guilty when I tucked her in tonight. I held her tightly.
In fact I didn't want to put her down, b/c if I hold onto her then I know that she is safe.
Then I prayed, I prayed for peace for those in these stories I have read...stories of people I wouldn't know if we passed on the street, but I some how feel so connected to their mother's heart, b/c I know how they must love their babies. I know they must have loved them long before they ever held them, or even knew about them.

It is still raining, but with each day of rain here, new things are growing outside my windows...and some how that makes sense to me, b/c I know He would never send this rain if he didn't have a purpose behind it.

I prayed that for these stories...that they know the rain has purpose, and also, it doesn't rain everyday. One of these days, the sun will come out again.
He'll send the Sun again, and He will dry up all this rain...
that dear friend I know.

A New Rug

Hope you like it. Don't think that I used my new rug as a reason to take a picture of Libby Jones post 6 month doctor's appointment. Despite being poked at and ridiculed a little for her weight, she looks like she is keeping her spirits high.
Cross your fingers and pray with me with me(that seems like a conflict of interests) that she gets over the food allergies that it appears that she has right now. I have a hard time imagining her life never being able to enjoy the pure satisfaction one experiences after eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich...or a crab cake, or an omelet, or so many other nut, seafood, or eggy type meals. Sad:(

Sunny Skies

The sun came out this weekend and we didn't miss a minute of it!

Why Use the Fancy New Dog Bed When I Can Just Lay On the Couch

Ooops. I may have gotten distracted by the beautiful, sunny morning and decided to forgo nap time to try on pretty new spring outfits. Mother of the Year Award here I come. Speaking of being nominated for MOTY, I also squished her little leg between the counter and the table and gave her a nasty bruise. This combined with fashion over napping, the fact that I sometime mispell her name, and she is crying while I type should put me in the running.
Here are requested pictures Babs, it is easier to put them here instead of emailing!

The Dog Bed

A couple weeks ago a naughty dog stole a bottle of olive oil off my kitchen counter, and without leaving even a tooth mark, opened the bottle and dumped it all over the living room and his dog bed. Apart from turning the living room into a slippery skating rink and sending his dog bed to the bin no harm done.
End scene,
Enter creative Mommy: "of course I can make a dog bed Mr. Jones, there are instructions in my new sewing book"
Mr. Jones: "Are you sure you don't want to just by one for $30?"
Creative Mommy: "Oh no, this will be cheaper and look much better than anything we can buy!"

That is basically how it went, so weeks later I finished the dog bed.
Was it cheaper and easier to make it? No.
Did it give me a headache, consume my time this week, and keep me up very late trying to finish before the grandma ticker stops ticking? Yes.
Will I embark on such a foolish undertaking again? The answer, of course, is yes. It is what I do.

So here it is with a festive little lady as my dog bed model because rotten, olive oil eating dog would not hold still and stay. I got the Amy Butler fabric from this Etsy store. I saved about $2 a yard buying it online, paid very little for shipping, and had so much fun doing it, b/c I could take my time and concentrate, which I can't do in the fabric store when shopping with the Little.
It photographed nicely, but in real life, it is so bad! And I'm not just saying that. It is bad on so many levels, zipper, cording, loose threads, crooked seams and all, but there you go, it's for a dog, and my first attempt at sewing something other than burp cloths!

The bottom and top are different, so I can flip it depending on my mood. Yellow and green dots.

Sweet Potato Queen

So, I followed the advice of Dr. Sears and gave Libby bananas as her first big girl food. She loved it, who wouldn't? Second big girl food, sweet tators. Watch and enjoy!

The Funniest Girl On Her Worst Day Ever

I just have to relive this tale for you b/c it was so entertaining, although heart breaking for Allison. I am experiencing guilt for laughing at her expense, but I feel that in many years she'll be able to laugh at this too.
It all started Saturday morning, the morning that Matt had promised to take the girls bike riding. Being that it was a bright sunny day, Alli clearly needed her pink, Barbie sunglasses, which were no where to be found. After, what seemed like, hours of searching we left for the bike ride, mommies, bikes, babies and no pink sunglasses...with a slightly worn down and weepy Allison.
When we arrived at the empty parking lot for the bike riding extravaganza the little girls rode for about 5 mins. when they realized they were in need of a snack.
Allison placed her bag of Oreo minis in her basket and was off to riding again. 5 minutes later, she wobbled, fell over, and a big gust of wind got a hold of those cookies and they went sailing off.
Face to sky, arms out wide, she cried, "this is my worst day ever!"
and why wouldn't she, she had lost her Barbie sunglasses, and now her snack was blowing in the breeze.
Fortunatly her big sister is fast and saved the bag for her.Her mommy can fix anything and rescued the cookies that scattered the parking lot,
and assured her that in this case the 5 minute rule applied and the scattered cookies were still safe to eat.
Everyone helped out with the recovery... look closely at Alli, she is gobbling the remaining cookies in her mouth so that there is no chance of loosing them again!
